Sri Lanka had a challenging 275 for 9 in Batting first. Avishka Fernando scored 50, and Chamika Karunaratne was unsuccessful on 44 of 33. The three wickets were grabbed for India by Bhuvneshwar and the Yuzvendra Chahal. India lost its top three for 65 after 276 before Pandey Manish (37), Yadav Suryakumar (53) and Pandya Krunal (35) kept India hunting. The brilliance of Chahar then carried India over

Chahar said it was a dream to play the sort of knock he knocked on Tuesday after winning the match man. Chahar remarked, “When I went out to bat, one thing I had in mind, that’s what you dream about when you start to play cricket and for India. There’s no better method to win the nation match. Rahul sir instructed me all the balls to play. He trusts in me and always believes in me and he has changed the game. I’ve played several innings for India A.

We have a great batting line-up and I hope in the future games I’ll not be hitting. For me in such a scenario this is the first time. We played ball by ball and when it was under 50, I determined to reach the limits and after that it gave me impetus six (42.2 – off Sandakan), “Chahar said.

In the second match, Captain Shikhar Dhawan from India commended the middle and lower order of India for the battle. He said, “The fight Krunal had been great in the middle. It displayed character to all. In his batting we knew Chahar worked really hard on the nets. His presence of mind and leg spinner calculations were incredible. It calculated quite well, both Bhuvi and him. I think the way Sri Lanka intended to bat and bowle her interiors was fantastic. It was nice to observe how they batted and fought. They’ve been working hard, but happy that we’re on the winning side. Every game is a learning lesson and we hope to analyse and get better.

We’re always going to have a terrific show.”

On Friday 23 July the third ODI will be played.
